'Like getting rid of Vegemite': Sunnyboy iceblocks won't be returning next summer
Sunnyboy fans have woken up to the ice-cold news that the iconic Australian treat will no longer be sold.
A staple of the schoolyard and Australian summers, it seems that nostalgia alone was not enough to keep the frozen iceblocks in circulation.
"I grew up on Sunnyboy iceblocks. As have my kids and now my grandkids," One commenter, Harrison, said on Twitter.
The Daily Juice Co. confirmed the news in a statement due to a “sustained reduction in consume demand” over time.
“The Daily Juice Co can confirm that we have regrettably had to make the hard decision to stop production of the icy treat, Sunnyboy, as of August 2016,” a spokesperson said.
AUSTRALIA! You can't get rid of SunnyBoys that's like getting rid of Vegemite and Shannon Noll.
You just can't #RIPSunnyBoys #SunnyBoy— Carly Heading (@carlyylalaa) September 26, 2016
'No other products are affected by this deletion, and consumers will still be able to purchase all our other popular brands, including Zooper Dooper and Quelch,' the company said.
While no other product caused quite as many paper cuts, fans have flocked to Twitter to mourn the loss of the pyramid shaped treat.
"No more #Sunnyboy Australian summer will not be the same," one Twitter user wrote
"Sunnyboy ice blocks equals the only way to cure the heat."
With the demise of #RIPSunnyboys the word 'tetrahedron' will no doubt be high on Google searches.#sunnyboy
