Can you spot the crime? Clueless tourist robbed by child thieves during happy snap

A clueless couple got a shock while browsing their holiday photos, to find they were mugged by two adorable little girls while they were "a bit drunk" in Thailand.

The little girls were dressed in traditional Thai costumes, as they posed with the couple outside a temple.

When the couple returned from their trip they looked a little closer at the picture, after the woman's watch was stolen on the trip.

To their surprise, the little girls in the photo appear to have been snapped stealing the woman's watch, while the oblivious pair set up the photo.

The man who took the image shared it on Reddit on Sunday, claiming the incident took place earlier this month outside of the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple in Chiang Mai.

He said the pair only noticed what had happened to the watch once they reviewed their pictures.

In the image, the woman smiled as the two alleged pickpocket's squeezed her arm, while one of them unfastened the wrist watch.

One Reddit user noticed the technique and explained the young girl's reasoning for it.

"Notice how the thief is touching her hand in several places? It's a pickpocket technique so that the mark gets accustomed to being touched by the thief and stops registering all of the touches,” he wrote.

Another person agreed and said: "Spot on. A friend of mine is a professional magician who makes watches and wallets disappear as a trick.

"He told me once that his secret was exactly that, putting more pressure somewhere else so the "victim" won't feel other parts of the body."

Another claimed this was more than just a distraction, it is a "misdirection" a tactic scammers are known for using.

"There's enough stimuli going on that your brain lumps in the sensory information with everything else. That's why pick pockets always bump into you. Between getting hit and balancing yourself, you don't notice your pocket getting lighter," he said.

The man shared the photo admitted his girlfriend was "a bit drunk" and didn't notice what was happening.
