Woman allegedly stole thousands from elderly man in love scam

A woman has fronted the Adelaide Magistrates Court accused of defrauding an elderly man of $25,000 in an online romance scam.

Daisy Zielonka, 57, allegedly stole the money on a twice-weekly basis over the course of five months, the court heard on Monday.

Zielonka, from Clearview, is facing 17 counts of aggravated deception for the offences against the man which allegedly occurred between November 2015 and April this year.

According to police, the money was sent overseas.

Supporters gathered around Zielonka for her first court appearance on Monday.

She wasn’t required to enter a plea and will front court again in September.
