Heartless thief steals from charity store twice
A heartless thief spent more than an hour rummaging through a Sydney charity store before returning to steal cash and donations.
The thief was captured on CCTV using a torch to search the Young Adult Disabled Association’s Liverpool store.
“He would have known it was a charity,” YADA coordinator Buffy McDonald said.
“What sort of a person steals from a charity?
“It makes me angry that someone can be so horrible.
The man used bolt cutters to break into the store on July 20.
He spent more than an hour searching for goods, seemingly unaware he was being recorded on camera.
“They’re not stealing from me, they’re stealing from the disabled,” Ms McDonald said.
The man left with antique jewellery and small items in his backpack, but returned a short time later to steal more than $1000 cash from a tin meant for the charity.
“I hope he’s caught,” Ms McDonald said.
“It’s just disgusting that someone can do that knowing it’s a charity.
“We’re obviously not going to see the money again, and we just hope it deters people from thinking that they can steal from charity.”
It’s the first time in 30 years of operating that the store has been broken into.
