Vic cop filmed shoving onlookers and throwing girl to ground after RBT gone wrong

A Victorian man who was pulled over by police for having a modified vehicle has shared a video of the moment his window was shattered and his friends physically abused by local police.

The man, identified as ‘Keith’, uploaded two separate videos of the same incident, shot by onlookers who both ended up being assaulted by police, he claims.

The alteration was allegedly sparked by a random breath test in which officers became concerned over the height of Keith’s lowered vehicle.

On a Facebook post, Keith said the officer used a device to measure the height of the car and repeatedly hit his vehicle’s bumper “to the point where the whole car started to shake”.

“That’s when I told him to stop whacking my car, and soon as I said that he went around to the passenger side opened my door and sat in my car,” he wrote.

Keith admitted he swore at the officer when he told him to get out of the car, which prompted the officer to return to the driver’s side – where he was met with Keith quickly rolling up his window.

“Then bang - pepper sprayed, window smashed, thrown to the ground with a knee in my back and put in a Divvy van for 20min with a face full of mase,” he wrote.

At this point, two onlookers from opposite sides of the street begin recording the scene.

“You can’t do that mate. What did he do wrong?” one man yells out to the officer.

“Mind your own business mate!” the officer shouts back.

With pepper spray in his eyes, Keith begs for water as he hunches over his car.

“How come you hopped into your car without permission?” the bystander continues.

“How come you smashed his window like this? “ another man chimes in,

“Because he was arrested,” said the officer.

“He wasn’t arrested when you smashed his window or hopped in his car,” the witness responds.

The officer then approaches the man and tells him to move away before shoving him backwards.

He raises baton behind his head and turns his attention to the other onlookers, screaming at the men to move away.

The man recording the incident is the second person to be pushed over by the officer. His phone is smacked out of his hand and the screen goes black.

The young man had allegedly had a knee reconstruction and was injured again after falling to the ground.

Across the street the female bystander rushes forward to help the hurt man.

“Are you serious?” she can be heard saying. “Get the f*** off him!”

An officer approaches her before she can cross the road, shouting at her to “move away from the police”.

Without warning he shoves her to the ground where she lands with a hard thud.

“Move away or you’ll be struck,” he continues shouting, standing over her.

In shock, she starts to cry as her friends help her up.

“This is ridiculous!” she says in between sobs.

Between them, the two videos have been viewed almost 100,000 times and have sparked comments from people urging Keith to take the matter further.

“With all honesty I should because the cops even tried charging me with assaulting a police officer as well, but the film clearly shows me still in the front seat of my car stumbling out after they pepper sprayed me,” he said.

“But as far as I know [the police] have dropped all charges so I’m happy to put the whole thing behind me.”

Victorian police told 7 News a complaint was never received from Keith.
