Qld hiker found 'safe and well' after five days missing

Police have located a male hiker who has been missing since Saturday in Lamington National Park on the Gold Coast.

The bushwalker has since been taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition suffering only minor scratches.

The search-and-rescue operation has been ongoing since Sunday morning after the lost 58-year-old contacted police and was told to stay in his location.

Officers failed to find him the next morning after telling him to stay in the same location.

Experienced bushwalkers offered their assistance on Wednesday when a fourth day of searching by police and State Emergency Service crews proved fruitless.

Police and State Emergency Service crews descended on Lamington National Park about 8am on Thursday to continue the search.
