Chinese man pokes hole in wall, watches it crumble before his eyes

A man pokes a hole into the wall of a brand new apartment and watches the wall crumble before his eyes in a video showing how poor building standards can be in China.

Using little effort, the identified man inserts a long, thin stick into the wall.

His effortless action turns the wall into a sand dune as pieces are sent cascading to the floor, revealing a large dark void behind the facade.

According to reports, the apartment is believed be have been built by one of many Chinese construction companies who are known to rush through high rise buildings, the video being just one of many examples of the country's poor construction standards.

The video was uploaded to LiveLeak on March 29 - believed to be filmed in the Chinese city of Haozhuang - and has attracted about 500,000 views and received almost 1,000 comments.

Some users are making light of the poor standards.

"Green Homes, it's the future. It is biodegradable and last only a couple of years," one user commented.

Another user claims that the mixture is lacking cement.

"Just to be technical, the aggregates there in the sand but it's lacking cement (sic)."
