Passenger Jacob Ibrag tweeted he was ‘hungry, tired and seeking prayer’ from those not on board.

"Mother Nature decided to take us all for a ride. Just wonder if this storm system could've been avoided,” he said.

The ship left Cape Liberty in New Jersey for a seven-day trip to Port Canaveral in Florida.

On Sunday afternoon it was struck with severe weather off the coast of South Carolina.

Radar vision showed it passing straight through a hurricane-force storm.

The boat could be seen rocking side to side with furniture and plant pots damaged.

Part of a ceiling collapsed on one deck and water was seen rushing through the ship’s kitchen.

Royal Caribbean, which operates Anthem of the Seas, told CBS News the ship encountered some high winds and seas during its transit.
