Breaking down barriers: Popular mummy-blogger speaks out bulimia battle
A popular mummy-blogger has spoken out about her struggle with bulimia by posting a powerful message and untouched photograph of herself in a bikini on social media.
Perth mother Constance Hall sent social media into meltdown when she spoke candidly about how she “used to throw up after eating."
Hall has almost 348,000 followers on her social media account and the post has since been shared more than 25,000 times.
The 32-year-old mother-of-two mused she hasn’t “always known how to love” her body and shared how she overcame her battle with bulimia she faced in her “younger years".
“Bulimia is this strange compulsion to eat loads of really poor quality food as fast as you can, spaced perfectly with water to keep fluid consistency that is easier to bring up,” the candid post detailed.
“I remember taking my top off before I did it to minimise the chances of getting vomit on my clothes, I bent over and lunged my fingers down my throat”.
“I was violently gagging in a bid to get every f***ing bit of food up and out”.
The blogger offered encouraging words to others who were also possibly suffering from an eating disorder or body images struggles urging them to “start small” and to “say one positive thing about your body every day".
“Don’t ever give up on a positive body image,” she wrote.
Hall then invited other women to share their bikini pictures with her, with several of her followers sending in selfies of their own bodies and stories of learning how to self-love.
One of her followers posted a selfie of herself in a bikini, showing “all 350lbs of me".
Hall recently launched the hashtag #LikeAQueen encouraging her followers to share images of their “flawed” bodies on social media to help normalise them.
