The long limbless reptile responded by wrapping itself around the bird’s neck and attempting to choke it out on a dirt road in Minas Gerais, a state in southeastern Brazil.

Feeling pity on the hawk - which can be seen attempting to 'tap out' - one of the men can be seen poking the snake with a stick causing it to let go of the floundering bird.

The life-or-death battle ends when the snake eventually gives up and slithers away as the hawk miraculously flies off.
