Moranbah boy a medical marvel

It's being called a medical marvel, surgery on a 16-month-old Moranbah boy to re-attach the bones between his head and neck after a serious car accident.

Specialist surgical staff at Brisbane's Lady Cilento Hospital pulled off what was thought to be impossible in a marathon operation.

Now doctors believe the little boy, Jaxon Taylor, will have a completely normal life.

Jaxon and his nine-year-old sister, Shayne, were travelling in a car with their mother two weeks ago when they smashed head-on into a sedan in northern New South Wales.

The infant was airlifted to Brisbane and X-rays revealed the force of the crash had pulled his head and neck apart.

It was the worst injury of its kind Dr Askin had seen yet still there was hope.
