Dad who filmed baby daughter with giant python defends actions

A snake handler received fierce backlash after he posted a video of a four metre python playing with his 14-month-old baby daughter.

US man Jamie Guarino, 34, told media he did nothing wrong but would not pull the stunt again anytime soon.

In the video, which has been viewed more than two million times, Guarino’s toddler Alyssa can be seen on the floor with the snake.

After the video became an online hit, the Michigan Department of Human Services investigated the Guarino family for child abuse.

Baby Alyssa was never in any danger, according to her Dad.

Guarino said in January that his daughter was completely safe with the python and that his slithery friend just has a bad reputation.

He told the Daily Mail: "I was trying to show that snakes are not evil creatures; they can be a loving pet despite their bad reputation. My daughter was absolutely in no danger.

"When people see the way Nay-Nay is with Alyssa they mostly react with fear or negativity and I don't understand why.

As you can see the snake is roaming around and it has no interest in biting her, or choking her or swallowing her. This is an embedded fear and I think people are just brainwashed."

The father runs a YouTube channel called SnakeHunters with his other daughter, 11-year-old snake handler daughter, Krista.
