Woman tortured, locked in shipping container

A young woman has been beaten, tortured and locked in a shipping container in an alleged domestic dispute in Queensland.

A woman was heard screaming by neighbors at a property in Tallai. Police were called to the property about 11.15pm on Saturday.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports when police arrived they were met by a man claiming to be alone at the residence.

After police searched the property they discovered a young woman bound and gagged and locked in a shipping container.

It was not known how long she had been held there.

She was taken to hospital in a serious condition for injuries sustained from being beaten and tortured.

The 29-year-old man was arrested and allegedly resisted, kicking out a patrol vehicle's window as he was being taken to the watchhouse.

The man has been charged with torture, deprivation of liberty, attempted murder and wilful damage to a police vehicle.
