Click Frenzy: 90% off in 24 hour sale

Major Australian retailers are preparing to slash their prices for a one-day super sale.

After complaining about online shopping, they're now hoping to use the internet to kick start Christmas spending, with some deals at 90 per cent off.

Forget the Boxing Day sales, the best shopping deals this year are up for grabs before Christmas, and you can purchase them from your loungeroom.

Australia's retailers have decided that if they can't beat online companies, they'll join them.

'Click Frenzy' organiser Grant Arnott says it’s really important that Australian retailers embrace online.

“It's not going to go away. It's only going to encroach on traditional retail," Arnott said.

An Australian online shopping spree, labeled 'Click Frenzy', will run for 24 hours from 7pm next Tuesday.

The Australian Retailers Association says it hopes that sale will be a boon for local retailers, whether they're bricks and mortar, or whether they are online.

This is the first year of the sale, but already more than 150 retailers have signed up, some offering discounts of up to 90 per cent.

Organisers expect a million shoppers will log on, with sale items including electronics, books, toys and fashion.

SABA and Sportscraft spokesman Daniel Bracken says it will be a good opportunity to introduce new customers to their brands. '

But some retailers are staying away in the belief that their customers aren't willing to give up the physical shopping experience.

"They do like to have an experience in store, they like to touch and feel product," Tracie Walker from Kmart said.

Whilst some shoppers are concerned about giving out their credit card details over the internet.
