Car torched, man attacked at Kilburn

A man has been attacked by three men in his own home, and his car later torched at Kilburn, in Adelaide's north-western suburbs overnight.

At around 11pm last night, the 43-year-old man disturbed the three men, who were damaging a car parked in the backyard of his Tobruk Ave home.

As he confronted the intruders, they turned on him, attacking him with a hammer.

He grabbed a knife and fought them off.

He was then taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, to be treated for head injuries and minor bruising.

Then, several hours later, police were called to the same property at 3am after the man's car was set alight in his backyard.

The car was completely destroyed.

Police say they do not know the motive behind the attack.

The offenders are said to be of Aboriginal appearance and were seen leaving the home after the attack last night in a station wagon.

It's believed the men may have stab wounds and require hospital treatment.

Police are asking anyone with further information on the incident to contact BankSA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or go to their website.
