Drink driver bashes police officer for daring to pull him over

Caught on camera: CCTV caught a drunk driver dishing out a 'respect beating' to a police officer who dared pull him over.

James Forrester, 33, was driving late at night in November last year in Manchester, UK with no lights on, a flat tyre and a smashed side mirror.

A patrolman spotted the car and pulled him over. When Forrester got out, he agreed to go in the back of a marked police car however refused to provide a breath test.

Forrester then hit the officer in the face and bit him on the cheek before landing further punches.

According to the Daily Mail, he believed he had 'lost face' by being asked to provide a breath sample, yelling at the officer, 'I have no respect for you people - shut your f...king mouth'.

CCTV vision captures part of the violent attack, including the police officer being punched in the head while he lay defenceless on the ground.

Four people stepped in to help the constable who is later seen staggering away with his head in his hands.

The unnamed officer in his 30s was taken to hospital and treated for a gash on his cheek that required stitches, severe bruising to his face and body, cuts to his face and a fractured cheekbone

Forrester was arrested nearby and was found to be two-and-a-half times the drink drive limit.

He pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to escape lawful custody and drink driving and was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison. He was also disqualified from driving for five years.
