Simpson lures Pratt to Eagles nest

New West Coast coach Adam Simpson has lured a close mate to the club with Daniel Pratt to take on a development role.

The Eagles announced today Pratt would replaced Adrian Hickmott, who was promoted to an assistant coaching post last month.

Pratt played alongside Simpson at North Melbourne and also worked with the new West Coast mentor in a similar development position with Hawthorn.

He played for the Hawks' VFL affiliate Box Hill for the past two seasons.

The 30-year-old lined up in 119 matches for North Melbourne and Brisbane.

“Seeing how Simmo worked at Hawthorn, when this opportunity to came up I was very excited,” Pratt told the Eagles website.

“It’s a strong list and the last 12 months were tough mainly because of injuries. There’s real upside here and I’m looking forward to getting involved.

“I was just going through the list with Hick (Adrian Hickmott) and there are a lot of players in the four to six year range of experience, so I’m looking forward to working with them.

“I’ve always been interested in football,” Pratt said in answer to a question on whether he had long harboured a desire to coach.

“There’s always so much to learn.”

West Coast begins pre-season training on Wednesday.
