South sign Dell'Olio, Carter

South Fremantle have signed de-listed Essendon forward Cory Dell'Olio and axed West Coast defender Adam Carter to leave them well placed for an assault on finals next year.

And the WAFL club could add another former Eagle, Blayne Wilson, to their list of new recruits by Christmas, with the defender likely to commit to the Bulldogs if not redrafted into the AFL.

Both Dell'Olio, 24, and 20-year-old Carter are returning to their original WAFL home.

Dell'Olio's AFL career ended in October when he was de-listed by the Bombers after 16 matches across three seasons.

Essendon selected Dell'Olio with pick No.29 in the 2011 rookie draft after he kicked 55 goals for South Fremantle that year.

Carter was the final player to be cut by West Coast following coach Adam Simpson's first season in charge.

He played seven AFL matches in two seasons, having been taken with pick No.59 in the 2012 national draft.

South Fremantle president Haydn Raitt said the signings would help give new coach Todd Curley a strong group to work with in 2015.

"It does look exciting," Raitt said.

Premiership player Kyle Hams has returned to training at South Fremantle alongside twin brother Ashton, a strong sign that he may rejoin the Bulldogs.

And Craig White turned down a lucrative offer to captain-coach amateur club Wesley Curtin so he could extend his South Fremantle career into an 11th season.

The Bulldogs have also promoted David Depane to the role of football manager.
