Catwalk of Cars for Perth show

Car fans suffering motor show withdrawal symptoms can get their fix next month when Perth's auto expo returns.

Last held in 2008, the revived event will be held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre from August 19-21.

WHAT'S NEW?

For some people, just seeing the fabulous Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in the metal would be worth the entry price.

It's the same as a movie ticket - $16.

To reflect a lively new Catwalk of Cars format, the event's name has been extended to the Perth Motor Show Live.

"We wanted this to be much more than a passive display of cars so new-release vehicles will be continuously presented on stage in what we're calling a Catwalk of Cars," show organiser Peter Woods said.

"The main stage will be set up with full theatre production so that audiences are given an interactive experience with each presentation."

Among the personalities who will tell their stories on stage are Shane Jacobson, of Kenny and Top Gear Australia fame, and Rosco McGlashan, who has travelled at more than 800km/h while setting land-speed records.

The $750,000 Aventador will make its WA debut following its international launch in Geneva last March.

This stunning supercar, which takes its inspiration from the world's fastest and most agile aircraft, replaces the legendary Murcielago.

Its 515kW V12 engine's brutal power and lightweight carbon-fibre chassis underpin a 0-100km/h time of 2.9sec.

Dramatic styling statements include scissor doors and avant-garde jet fighter-inspired lines.

Also fresh to the global stage, yet to be shown in Perth, is Maserati's fastest-ever road car, the $365,000 GranTurismo MC Stradale. Other stars at the show will include the Aston Martin Rapide, Maserati GranCabrio, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari California and 458, and two stunning Jaguars, the XJ and the XK.

In the more affordable range of cars, there are plenty of preview models fresh from Melbourne's show.

Other attractions include anniversary displays of Porsche and Jaguar classic cars, daily Shell V-Power race-simulator competitions with prizes, and a chance to win a trip for two to Melbourne's F1 grand prix.

Showgoers can use their entry ticket to see the award-winning Senna documentary about the F1 superstar at cinemas for $10.

Other ticket prices are: child 5-15 $8, pensioner/student $13 and a family up to two adults and four children $40.
