Elton lands bumper Vegas payday

Sir Elton John has landed a bumper pay rise to extend his Las Vegas residency.

Sir Elton will reportedly earn more than $US500,000 ($A540,979.17) for every show.

The Rocket Man's The Million Dollar Piano show was due to finish in late 2014 after a three-year run, but the singer has signed a new deal with Caesars Palace bosses to extend the shows until 2017.

According to TMZ.com, the British star has re-negotiated his pay and is now making more per show than fellow Sin City regular Britney Spears, who is said to earn around $US475,000 ($A513,930.21) a night.

Other stars jumping onboard with their own Sin City shows include pop superstar Mariah Carey, who will kick off her residency at the end of the year.
