Homicide detectives are investigating a suspected murder-suicide of a Dianella couple in their home yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a Morley Drive property just after midday when a neighbour noticed the man, a former police officer, in his backyard.

The neighbour, who asked not to be named, did not see the woman, who police said was also found dead in the backyard.

He said the couple, aged in their 50s, seemed like nice, normal people but he had not had much to do with them.

He said he heard lots of arguing and shouting late on Friday but did not hear anything yesterday. Other residents echoed the neighbour's comments about the couple's withdrawn behaviour.

One neighbour said the man and woman were "reclusive" and tried to keep to themselves.

Major crime detectives and forensic officers were at the scene yesterday.

Insp. Mark Fyfe said St John Ambulance officers were the first to arrive at the scene and found a man and woman dead in the backyard.

Their identities are yet to be confirmed.

The St John Ambulance wellbeing support team offered their assistance to the paramedic crews who were at the scene.
