Light plane makes emergency landing into Liverpool Golf Club dam
A light plane has made a crash landing at a golf course in Sydney's west, leaving stunned golfers to watch on as it bounced along the green and into a dam.
The three occupants of the aircraft, two men and a woman, escaped from the sinking plane miraculously without a scratch after an engine failure caused the emergency landing at Liverpool Golf Club in Lansvale.
Peter Gibson from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) confirmed to Yahoo7 the motor failure occurred shortly after take-off from Bankstown Airport.
After departing at 1:55pm, the 'Warrior' aircraft attempted to turn back to the airport to land on the runway but it never made it. Instead, the pilot made a forced landing on the fairway.
Scott Cragg from Liverpool Golf Club's operations department said he spoke to the female occupant after the incident.
"She was remarkably fine," he told Yahoo7. "A little shaken, as you can imagine."
According to several witnesses on the golf course, the pilot had attempted to land on a flat fairway but was heading towards a tree and was forced to "pull back up" into the air.
The plane landed again on the green and reportedly bounced before landing in the water.
All occupants managed to climb to safety on the bank and ambulances were called to the scene as a precaution.
Police confirmed that no treatment was required.
CASA said the aircraft was owned by a Melbourne company Aviation Pty Ltd.
