Canberra man knocked unconscious in Christmas Day burglary

A Canberra man was knocked unconscious in an aggravated burglary on Christmas Day, after answering the door to three men.

Police said the 45-year-old man was at his home in Conder when he answered his front door to a friend at about 10:00pm.

A short time later there was another knock at the door and, when he answered it, three men forced their way into the house.

The home owner was struck on the head and knocked unconscious before his attackers escaped with his house and car keys, wallet, phone and a replica diamond ring.

Another friend found the injured man and took him to hospital, police said.

The man was released from hospital yesterday afternoon.

Police said a silver four-wheel-drive seen in the street in the early hours of Boxing Day could be related to the burglary.

Witnesses have been urged to contact police with any information about the burglary.
