Gun fired in Perth home invasion attempt
The would-be invaders of a home in Perth's northern suburbs fired a gunshot into the ceiling of the terrified resident's porch, forensic officers say.
Police were called to the home on Petersen Close, Clarkson at about 10.40pm on Sunday following a scuffle at the side of the house involving a group of three men and the owner, who had allowed them to use his hose.
The drama unfolded after one of the men knocked at the front door asking for water for his car radiator.
As the owner directed him to the hose, two other men wearing balaclavas burst out of the shadows.
"Once I saw them come around the side with balaclavas, I ran inside, locked my security door, which is ripped to pieces," he told ABC radio on Monday.
"They kicked the door. That's when I went back to the front door - he said he was going to shoot me.
"He fired (a shot), which got lodged in the eaves here and I took a swing at one of the guys with a golf club.
"They just took off down the road."
The man who knocked at the door was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts, and had a tattoo on his right arm.
