Earthquake measuring 6.4 strikes off the coast of Indonesia: USGS
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake struck at a depth of 17.2 kilometres off the coast of Banda Aceh in the island's north.
No tsunami warning has been issued at this time.
Geoscience Australia also recorded a quake measuring 6.6 magnitude.
Initial USGS reports suggested the quake measured at 6.8 magnitude.
It came shortly after a 5.8 magnitude quake occurred Trinidad in the Caribbean.
