Man charged over large-scale Sydney drug supply operation

New South Wales detectives have seized drugs with a street value over $400,000, as well as $227,000 in cash and a firearm, during three raids in Sydney's southwest.

One man has been charged in connection to an alleged large-scale ice syndicate, operating in Macquarie Fields and surrounding areas, following a nine-month investigation that culminated in the Tuesday night raids.

About 8.30pm Tuesday police arrested two men at Moorebank, accused of possessing ice, heroin and MDMA with an estimated potential street value of $51,000.

A second raid was undertaken half an hour later at a Sandy Point home. Officers located a .357 Magnum revolver with ammunition, about 1.6kg drugs including ice, heroin and cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $350,000, and more than $227,000 in cash.

The two men, aged 27 and 26, were taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The 27-year-old man was charged with large commercial quantity drug supply, indictable quantity drug supply (x7), possess unauthorised pistol, and not keep firearm safely.

He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 16.

The 26-year-old man was later released without charge.

Strike Force Pettifer was established in June 2015 to investigate a suspected organised circulation of the drug ice, and further charges are expected, police have confirmed.

Macquarie Fields Local Area Command Crime Manager, Acting Detective Inspector Rodney Cutler, said the arrests were a culmination of a lengthy investigation by detectives.

“Investigators have been involved in numerous inquiries with the objective of shutting down a significant drug supply operation in Sydney’s South West.”

“My officers have disrupted the supply of a large quantity of illicit drugs.”
