Manhunt underway as three men escape from Townsville prison

A manhunt is underway in northern Queensland for three prisoners who escaped from a Townsville prison farm.

Claude Cobbo, Craig Jackson and Jacob Allen escaped from the low-security Townsville Farm late on Wednesday night.

Police and corrective service officers have launched a manhunt for the escapees.

A Justice Department spokeswoman told AAP that anyone who sees the escapees should not approach them but call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Jackson is serving six years and eight months for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Cobbo is serving five years and eight months for break and enter and Allen is serving 10 mkonths for break and enter.

Jackson is aged in his 30s while Cobbo and Allen are in their 20s.
