Perth, SW brace for wild weather

Residents of Perth and the South West are being urged to brace for strong winds which have the potential to cause damage to properties tomorrow morning.

The Bureau of Meterology has issued a severe weather warning for people from Perth to Albany, including those in or near Perth, Bridgetown, Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury and Mandurah.

The Bureau has warned of winds in excess of 125km/h could be recorded as a cold front moves across the region between midnight and 8am.

"This is typical weather for this time of the year but winds may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous," the Bureau said in a statement.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has advised people to store or weigh down loose objects, keep pets in a safe area, move vehicles under cover and moor their boats.

People are also being urged to have an emergency kit, including a battery-operated radio, torch, batteries and a first aid kit.
