Murder accused to spend Christmas in custody

Murder accused Chamari Rasika Denuwanthe Gunathilaka Liyanage will spend Christmas in custody as she awaits disclosure of the prosecution case.

Ms Liyanage, 34, has not entered a plea to the charge of murdering her husband Dr Dinedra Athukorala at the Bowling Green Villas on Shenton Street on June 24.

She appeared via video link in Stirling Garden's Magistrate's Court today and the matter was adjourned for disclosure to January 28.

Dr Athukorala’s body was found by police at the villas at 6.15am on June 24 after Dr Liyanage called emergency services to the address.
