Lions auction trio of tractors

The Cowaramup Lions holds its annual auction today with several items under the hammer, including a 15-year-old tractor.

The auction has been running for more than 20 years and about 20 committee members volunteer for the event, which raises funds for various charities.

Event co-ordinator Mark Murray said three tractors had been donated over the years and they were big ticket items for the Lions.

“We’ve raised figures at this event between $8000 and $16,000, ” Mr Murray said.

“The year we made $16,000 was the year we got $10,000 for the tractor.”

Mr Murray said the event gave residents a chance to clear out their sheds and fill them up again.

Lions committee member Roy Garstone said the Lions had been working hard to make the event happen.

“We get good support from the Lions to do it, ” he said.

“A lot of work goes into it. It doesn’t look like it, but it does.”

Mr Garstone said there would be a lot of machinery available for auction this year.

The Margaret River Lions Auction starts at 10am.
