A touring Pakistan cricketer is reportedly 'traumatised' after a supernatural incident in his Christchurch hotel room.

The incident has spooked rising star Haris Sohail so much he can't even train with the team, according to NZME.

The Pakistan team are staying at the Rydges Latimer Christchurch while they play Cricket World Cup warm-up matches ahead of the tournament, starting next month.

Pakistan media reports that the 26-year-old woke up in the night at the weekend terrified that there was a supernatural presence in his room.

Sohail believed that a ghost had pushed him while he was asleep, one source told NZME News Service.

He phoned team management, and by the time they arrived he had developed a high fever. Team bosses then convinced hotel management to change Sohail's room immediately.

The hotel was built after the devastating 2011 earthquake, just 100m up the road from the CTV building which claimed 115 lives when it collapsed.

Sohail played in Tuesday's second warm-up match at Lincoln Oval, but failed with the bat only scoring six runs.

Pakistan lost the first warm-up match against a New Zealand President XI by six wickets.
