Tsonga pulls out of Australian Open
Jo-Wilfred Tsonga will not play in the Australian Open after failing to recover from a forearm injury.
The world number 12 announced his withdrawal on his personal website.
"It is with great disappointment that I have to postpone today the start of my season, pulling out of the Australian Open, he explained.
"I'm still suffering from a forearm inflammation (intersection syndrome) and that prevents me from being at full capacity."
The 29-year-old crowd favourite was struggling with the injury during the Davis Cup tie against Switzerland in November, forcing him to later pull out of the Hopman Cup as well.
