Queensland police officer to fight child sex allegations

A Queensland police officer says he’ll vigorously fight to clear his name of child sex charges including rape and indecent treatment of children.

The 46-year-old remains behind bars as the court investigates a proposed address for the constable to reside at, if granted bail.

The court wants to limit the man’s access to children while out on bail.

On Friday, it was established the constable may have groomed two children while in a relationship with their mother.

The officer is no longer in a relationship with the woman.

The alleged offences date back a number of years.

The 46-year-old’s defence team say there are a number of issues with the case relating to motive and said the man will fight the allegations.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been suspended from the police service while the charges, including one count of rape and 11 counts of indecent treatment of a child, are dealt with.

The case returns to court next week where it’s expected the man will apply for bail.
