Elias Herodotou arrested in connection with Melbourne hotel murder

Victoria Police have arrested Elias Herodotou in relation to Sunday's murder at Crown Metropol in Melbourne​.

Police issued an appeal for the 28-year-old man to come forward following the discovery of a man's body at Southbank on Sunday.

The victim, who is yet to be identified, was found in a room on the eighth floor of the Crown Metropol hotel around 2.35am (AEST) with his throat cut.

Detectives released a picture of Elias Herodotou, who they are urging to hand himself in over the death of the 40-year-old Thornbury man.

Police believe at least one other person was involved in the incident.

Det Sgt Favre said the reason for the altercation was not clear, but the circumstances of the man's death were troubling.

"There's an element of violence, which is distressing," he told reporters outside the hotel on Sunday.
