Man jailed over cannabis crop found in Macgregor home in 2012

The final player in a large Canberra hydroponic cannabis crop operation uncovered in 2012 has been jailed by the ACT Supreme Court.

Mohanad Quzag, 23, was arrested with three other men over the grow house operation in a vacant house owned by his girlfriend's parents in Macgregor.

The crop of 98 illegal plants was discovered when neighbours reported water flowing from the home.

All four accused, including Quzag, pleaded guilty.

The court heard Quzag grew the crop because he had drug debts, run up when he became a heavy cannabis user after suffering bone cancer.

He was jailed for six months, with another six months of periodic detention.
