Boss pays tribute to Adelaide man Peter Surman who died in Bali

Minda Incorporated has paid tribute to an employee of the company who died while surfing in Bali.

Peter Surman, 56, was found unconscious at Kuta Beach surfbreak in Bali on Friday afternoon.

Mr Surman had worked as a business manager with Minda for four years at its Lonsdale plant.

Chief executive Cathy Miller said Peter's death had shocked colleagues.

"Peter was a very much loved and respected member of our staff," she said.

"He was very passionate about his work in the disability sector and he'll be greatly missed."

Ms Miller said his loss would be felt by the larger Minda community.

"We have spoken to members of our management team because on Monday when they all come back to work we're going to provide some support to people that will struggle with the loss of their manager."

Ms Miller said Mr Surman was a keen surfer and was also a part of the local surf life saving club.

"Surfing was second nature [to him]," she said.

Mr Surman's wife Louise remains in Bali and will soon be joined by their son.
