Driver smashes into police car heading towards armed robbery

A police car was responding to an armed robbery in Queensland when it drove though a red light and was T-boned by another car in a horrific crash caught on dash cam.

The incident happened on 2 December on the corner of Stafford and Webster Road in Stafford just before 7am.

A QLD Police spokesperson told 7 News Online: "The driver couldn’t see or hear the police car due to a truck obstructing his view."

In the video, the traffic lights were red and the officer did slowed down, but continued to drive through the intersection.

The driver of a white Jeep smashed into the left side of the police car and further ploughed into another two cars nearby.

Debris from the police car went flying across the road.

The spokesperson said the officers were responding to an armed hold up at the Roady Road newsagency.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash.

A man, only known as Mick, sent the video into Dash Cam Owners Australia and told other drivers to "approach an intersection with care, even if the light is green".
