Police find body

Police have begun the process of removing a body from a riverbank near Mt Crosby.

It was confirmed earlier today a body had been located during a police search for missing Brookfield mother Allison Baden-Clay.

However, police have not confirmed the body is that of the missing mother of three.

"We cannot confirm that it is Allison Baden-Clay. We are treating it very seriously that it may be her," Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth said.

Police have said the major incident room will continue to operate until further notice.

Police say they have not made an examination of the body yet, which was discovered by a canoeist near the Mt Crosby Weir about 11am.

The investigation is now being treated as an unlawful homicide, but police will not comment on whether Gerard Baden-Clay is a suspect in that investigation.

Police have thanked the SES and volunteers who have helped with the search.

Ms Baden-Clay was last seen eleven days ago when she was believed to have gone for a late night walk. Her husband Gerard Baden-Clay reported her missing the following morning.

Police have closed Mt Crosby Road from Hawkesbury Road to Tanderra Road at Anstead to all traffic. Residents have been advised to find alternative routes.
