Young mum, 20, dies after $16 lip piercing
A 20-year-old mum has died after a $16 lip piercing gave her sepsis and caused damage to her brain.
Andressa Souza, who has a three-year-old son, died in the intensive care unit of a Brazilian hospital on July 9.
Andressa had been in the ICU for 24 days due to a piercing that had become infected.
Her mother, Maria Aparecida da Silva Oliveira, 47, told local media that the infection entered her bloodstream and travelled to her brain.

"We saw that her mouth was very swollen, there was no way to move it," she told Diario do Nordeste.
Doctors in the southern Mato Grosso do Sul state reportedly said even if Andressa had survived, she would have been in a vegetative state for the rest of her life.
Maria said her daughter paid BRL 60 ($16) for the piercing, but she has no idea if the establishment was licensed to carry out the procedure.
"She did not mention anything to me about whether the person was a professional," she said.
Andressa leaves behind a husband and a three-year-old son.
"He is also inconsolable because, as little as he is, he saw his mother in that situation. It is very difficult for him," Maria said.
Andressa was buried at the Cristo Redentor Cemetery on Sunday.
