Young girl’s disturbing injury from common household object

WARNING – GRAPHIC IMAGES: A mother has issued a warning to other parents after her young daughter suffered a gruesome injury to her eye while playing with a common household item.

Hanis Hafiz revealed her six-year-old daughter needed surgery to stitch up her eyelid after ripping it open with a broken plastic clothes hanger.

In a Facebook post, the mother, who lives in Malaysia, explained she was on her phone when her youngest daughter discovered a part of the broken hanger and accidentally injured herself.

"The blood came out fast even with her eye closed," she explained.

She said it all happened so quickly and her daughter had not even been playing for five minutes.

After wiping the blood away she realised her daughter's eyelid was badly cut and rushed her to hospital.

Ms Hafiz explained her children had previously broken the hanger while playing and she must have missed a piece while cleaning it up.

While she was extremely emotional over the incident, she said her daughter was calm and did not cry or complain about the pain.

Ms Hafiz shared graphic images of her daughter's injury before and after surgery as a warning to other parents to remain vigilant while their children play.

She said her daughter is now on the road to recovery.

Her injury is similar to the one suffered by a six-year-old girl in Sydney last year after she fell onto a metal rack in a Kmart store.

That injury prompted the store to introduce safety caps on racks across the country.
