Manchester bombing 'homeless hero' charged with stealing victim's credit card

A homeless man who was labelled as a hero for rushing bloodied teenagers away from the Manchester bombing scene has now been charged with stealing one victim’s credit card.

Chris Parker had been begging in the Manchester Arena foyer outside a packed Ariana Grande concert moments before suicide bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 people.

Amid the carnage and chaos, the homeless 33-year-old provided a glimmer of hope when he ran back towards the scene to rescue injured concert-goers.

"I heard a bang and within a split second I saw a white flash, then smoke and then I heard screaming,” Parker said at the time.

"It knocked me to the floor and then I got up and instead of running away my gut instinct was to run back and try and help.”

So taken aback by Parker’s efforts, a crowdfunding page was put together that went onto raise $84,000 to help him start a better life.

In a twisted turn of events, it now seems the Manchester man may have had a similar train of thought during the May 22 blast.

He is accused of stealing Pauline Healey’s credit card, who was left in a coma for days after the attack.

Ms Healey went onto survive her injuries but tragically her teenage granddaughter, Sorrell Laczkowski, was killed in the blast.

Parker has been remanded to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court later this week.
