'You're a terrorist stalker': Elderly woman lets fly at US citizen for speaking in Assyrian

Debate about a recorded racially driven verbal attack on a woman riding a US train has become the latest battleg for pro- and anti-Trump supporters trading blame over the simmering post-election unrest in the United States.

Millions of people have viewed Ivet Lolham's Facebook video showing an elderly woman telling her President-elect Donald Trump might deport her for being a terrorist.

Ms Lolham, a US citizen who emigrated from Iran, had apparently offended the woman by speaking to her father in Assyrian while riding a train in San Francisco's Bay Area in California.

The video shows her being called an "ugly, mean, evil" terrorist and a "Middle Eastern stalker".

"Trump might deport you," the woman said after Ms Lolham challenged her to repeat her comments on video.

"You are breaking the law right now by talking to me... This woman is a stalker from the Middle East. She is a Middle Eastern terrorist."

Ms Lolham told NBC she had done nothing to instigate the barrage beside speaking to her father on the phone.

"[Trump] needs to say something about this," she said.

"He has to stop people, this is just not right. People need to be kind. They need to spread love, not hate.

"This is crazy just crazy. I don't feel safe anymore that's all I can say I don't feel safe."

Other passengers who attempted to support Ms Lolham were also summarily declared terrorist stalkers.

Assyrian is a dialect of Aramaic and many scholars believe it was the same language spoken by Jesus Christ and his disciples.

Video of the woman's outburst on the Bay Area Rapid Transit system has attracted close to 70,000 shares and more than five million views in just four days.

But while some are seizing on the vision of proof of the impending darkness of Trump's America, the billionaire real estate heir’s supporters have been sharing different videos.

Reports have emerged of violent scenes amid anti-Trump protests around the country.

One video shows a group of protesters angrily yelling at a car, apparently driven by a Trump supporter.

The clip ends when the windscreen of the vehicle shatters as it is surrounded by a furious mob. The location of the incident is unclear but protests have swept cities from coast to coast.

Other reports have emerged from across the country showing similar violence, and bringing quick condemnation from those within the inner circle of the newly elected US administration.
