Sara Connor 'stressed and worried' as she faces Indonesian court

Australian mother Sara Connor is "stressed" and "worried" as she prepares to face an Indonesian court for the first time, almost three months after she and her British boyfriend allegedly killed a Balinese police officer.

"She is worried because she hears that many people say our (Indonesia's) legal system doesn't guarantee that a person who is innocent is released," Connor's lawyer Robert Khuana told news.com.au this morning.

"She is actually stressed but she is well ... Her feeling is she never did it."

The 45-year-old Byron Bay woman and her British DJ boyfriend David Taylor are set to face Denpasar District Court on Wednesday for the first day of their trial over the death of Wayan Sudarsa.

Sudarsa's bloodied body was discovered on the popular tourist beach in the early hours of August 17, having allegedly suffered 42 wounds to his body.

What prosecutors believe happened to him in the hours leading up to the grisly find and what his alleged attackers did in the days after is expected to be presented during the opening day of their trial.

Connor denies having anything to do with the assault on Mr Sudarsa but concedes she helped destroy evidence after the alleged killing.

Taylor, meanwhile, admits to assaulting the police officer but has not admitted to killing him.

Police have urged prosecutors to press ahead with the charges of murder, manslaughter and assault in company causing death.

The pair have been locked up inside Kerobokan prison since being moved there last month.

Connor arrived in Bali on August 16 where she was meeting up with her 35-year-old boyfriend, whose stage name is DJ Nutzo.

After going to dinner and drinking a few beers, the pair went down to Kuta Beach where they were "intimate".

However, they stopped when Connor misplaced her purse and a frantic search for it began.

Police have previously alleged Taylor confronted Mr Sudarsa who was patrolling the foreshore about the missing item, accusing him of being a "fake cop" and then frisking him.

In the fight that followed, police allege Taylor attacked Mr Sudarsa, hitting him with the officer's two-way radio, mobile phone and a broken beer bottle.

Connor is also alleged to have struck Mr Sudarsa with the two-way radio but Connor maintains she did nothing but try to separate them.

Later that morning the pair checked out of the Kuta guest house where they were staying before burning their clothes and attempting to hide Mr Sudarsa's mobile phone, wallet and ID cards in the bush .

They were arrested on August 19.

Taylor, meanwhile, admits to hitting Mr Sudarsa on Kuta Beach, but denies killing him.

His lawyer Haposan Sihombing said his client was "ready" for the hearing and understands the grief of Mr Sudarsa's family.

"Hopefully one day they will forgive him."
