Two men charged over Launceston car park assault

Two young men have been charged over a serious assault in a Launceston car park that left a man with significant injuries.

The 49-year-old victim was found by a passerby in a car park near a Charles Street alleyway on Tuesday morning.

He had fractures to his face and ribs as well as cuts, bruises and swelling from the assault.

Two men aged 17 and 18 have been charged with criminal code assault, and have been bailed to appear at Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

Detectives said a third suspect had been identified but was yet to be interviewed.

The victim is still receiving treatment in the Launceston General Hospital, but he is in a stable condition.
