Shopper spots rat running across bread aisle

The unsettling incident in store comes just weeks after a Melbourne woman spotted a rat running across the bread aisle at her local Woolworths.

The shopper, who was doing her weekly shop at the Featherbrook store, was surprised to see the rodent race across the top of the bread shelf, seemingly unbeknownst to other customers or staff.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia the store had been contacted and the necessary action taken to make the store safe for customers.

“We work to uphold the highest standards in hygiene, so we’re disappointed to have missed the mark at our Featherbrook store on this occasion,” said the Woolworths spokesperson.

“As soon as we became aware of the issue, we conducted a thorough clean and sanitisation of the area to return it to our usual high standards.”
