Woman tragically killed in hit-and-run while walking with partner


A woman has died and a man has been injured after they were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision in NSW’s northeast.

The 62-year-old woman and her 63-year-old partner were walking along Cecil Street in Nimbin when they were hit by a four-wheel drive just after 7pm Monday.

The woman died at the scene, while her partner suffered serious injuries including a suspected broken leg.

The vehicle, described as a white 2004 model Subaru Forester, left the scene. The 4WD sustained front-end damage and is missing the front grill, police say.

It was last seen travelling south on Cecil Street.

Police are appealing for the driver to come forward and for witnesses to the accident to contact them.
