'Paying the price': Woman reveals awful injuries after daring cliff jump

The aftermath of a cliff jump shared to TikTok is enough to make anyone second guess whether they should making a daring leap.

The video was shared to TikTok by @laurendtilley who has over 148,000 followers on the platform, however, it was her friend "Brandeis from Nebraska" who jumped from the cliff.

"Brandeis from Nebraska was so brave," the caption on the video said.

In the video, Brandeis flings herself from the cliff towards a narrow inlet and you can hear a thud when she hits the water. The jump itself didn't seem to be obscenely high, but it looked to be around 15 to 20 metres.

"Oh, s**t," someone says off camera, just before Brandeis' head pops out of the water and it sounds like she cried out in pain.

The video then goes to a clip of Brandeis lying down, showing off her horrific injuries following the jump.

Her upper legs were completely bruised and red.

"Brandeis from Nebraska paid the price," @laurendtilley said on the caption of the video as the camera showed off her friend's injuries.

"She's okay, took it like a champ."

The video racked up over 500,000 views in one day and many people were concerned about Brandeis and wished her a speedy recovery.

One person noted Brandeis landed very close to the rock edge and many said she was lucky.

Brandeis also shared the video to her TikTok and when someone remarked that it looked painful, she said it "wasn't that bad".

She also said the jump was worth it.

The cliff jump appears to be at Spitting Cave which is in East O‘ahu, Hawaii.

Hawaii's Department of Land and Natural Resources said in a release from August 2021 Spitting Cave and other geological features along East O‘ahu attract cliff jumpers.

"Spitting Cave was living up to its name, as ocean water forced into its mouth was expelled in great torrents of water," the department said.

"There are numerous sea caves along the coastline here and a feature called 'The Bridge' where people have been swept off and into the ocean."

According to the release by August in 2021 there were 17 ocean-related emergencies, including drownings, east of Maunalua Bay and near the cliffs.
