Woman rescued from toilet in awkward bathroom mishap

The unlikely bathroom incident has now been watched millions of times on Instagram.

A young woman has flushed away the embarrassment of a clumsy bathroom accident, spinning it into 15 minutes of social media fame by sharing the bizarre ordeal online.

Manuela Ferrario, 26, shared the uncomfortable experience after getting her fake nail caught in the toilet – claiming she almost lost her finger in the process.

Manuela said she just finished getting a fresh manicure, so was taking extra care with each task to ensure a broken nail wasn't on the cards. But moments later she stumbled while flushing the toilet and found herself stuck onto the porcelain lid of the appliance, with her new nail – and finger – hanging in the balance.

In the clip posted on Instagram, which has racked up 3.8 million views and over 66,000 likes, she documented the subsequent rescue process.

The woman, from Buenos Aires in Argentina, can be seen with the cistern attached firmly to her hand, as she giggles while a man helps to break her free.

Her finger, which is wedged in the dual flush, required pliers and various other tools to help emancipate it.

"If it doesn't come out, we'll cut off the finger – what do you think?" someone in the background can be heard joking.

Eventually her hand breaks free from the hefty appliance, but her finger still remains caught. But with the help of soap and hot water, the flush device beings to loosen and she ends the clip showing her finger, which appears red from the tight squeeze.

“POV: You do your nails and you don't want them to break,” she wrote alongside the now viral clip.

Users flocked to the comments to share their reactions, with some even claiming a similar thing happened to them.

"It happened to me but I saved myself quickly with the help of my dad," one wrote. "The same thing happened to me, they broke the button with a hot knife and it took four people," another commented.

"It’s because of these accidents that girls accompany each other to bathrooms, end of the mystery!" one user quipped. While some cast doubt on the situation, saying "there's no way this could be real".
