Wild claim after mum's Westfield 'orgy' discovery: 'Most shopping centres'

A mum's recent discovery of a "teenage orgy" in the bathroom of a Queensland shopping centre has been followed with claims that the sordid events have been "happening for years".

Ashton Grohn was repulsed when she walked into a parents' change room at Westfield North Lakes on Sunday and saw what she described as "some weird orgy". She revealed she caught four teenagers — one male and three females — having sex before she raced out of there with her two-year-old daughter.

Ms Grohn shared her disgust on Facebook earlier this week. Since then, dozens more have revealed their own similar stories. But the "trend" is not surprising for some who reportedly claim OnlyFans is to blame.

An anonymous 19-year-old told Quest News the acts are nothing new, and it happens "at most shopping centres". "It's especially popular during late-night shopping," she said. She claims she'd known of it when she was in Year 10. "I think it has something to do with the rise in OnlyFans," she added.

Another agreed, blaming the subscription service which is primarily used by sex workers. It launched in 2016 and has boomed in popularity. "Just some OnlyFans content to pay for their vapes," one person wrote online, The Courier Mail reported, adding "nothing new, it’s the new trend".

Several claims after mum's ordeal

After seeing Ms Grohn's post, other parents claimed the same happened to them and they were just as shocked. One claimed she was "gobsmacked" when a boy, about 14 years old, looked at her and said, "you're just jealous" when she caught them.

"I watched about six teens walk into the parents’ room at Westfield the other day. They did not even hesitate and looked like this was a regular hangout," another person added.

Ms Grohn said the four teenagers were "having sex on the bench near the microwave and then moved into one of the breastfeeding cubicles!" Some claim it happens in disabled toilets too, and sometimes drugs are involved.

Police investigating the reports

Ms Grohn said she reported the particular incident to both Centre Management and police. Queensland Police have since confirmed that investigations were underway.

"Investigations are underway following a report of inappropriate conduct in a parents’ facility at a North Lakes shopping centre on Sunday, November 6," a spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia. "Police are working with the shopping centre’s management and security teams to make further enquiries into the report. Anyone with information is asked to contact police."
