Police describe emerging details about WA sex ring as 'absolutely devastating'
A senior Sex Crimes Division superintendent has described emerging details about an alleged child sex ring in WA as "absolutely devastating."
A special taskforce has been set up to investigate after police were handed a recording device showing two men and a woman having sex with a young girl.
A Perth mother, stepfather and their friend have been charged over an alleged child sex ring involving the woman's young daughter.
Police swooped on five homes around Perth and one in the Pilbara as they investigate the alleged child sex abuse.
"It's absolutely devastating," WA Police Sex Crimes Division superintendent Sharon Leonhardt said.
"It never ceases to amaze me what human beings do to one another particularly when parents are involved."
Police say the recording device was found at a rental property in the western suburbs.
Detectives are now investigating whether the eight year old girl was abused by multiple adults over a five year period at organised group sex gatherings that were advertised online.

They allege she and two other suspected child victims were given methamphetamine and cannabis before they were abused.
Two more men and a woman were arrested during Thursday's raids, but haven't been charged.
"'Swinging' between consenting adults is not a crime, but clearly the sexual abuse of children most certainly is," Sharon Leonhardt said.
Police say there could be more than a dozen suspects and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
